Wells Coffee Company

Fort Lauderdale's Flagler Village roastery and café — small-batch specialty beans roasted on-site daily.

Another Fort Lauderdale roaster worth knowing. Wells Coffee Company sits in Flagler Village, just north of downtown Fort Lauderdale, and it’s both a roastery and a café — they roast small batches on-site daily, so you can drink the coffee about as fresh as it gets, in the room where it was roasted.

Their lineup spans the usual specialty map — Ethiopia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Brazil, Indonesia — across light to dark, with single-origins and the occasional microlot. Being able to walk in and taste a coffee where it’s roasted is exactly the kind of thing this whole hobby is supposed to be about, and it’s a ten-minute errand instead of a mail-order wait.

Haven’t been in yet — it’s on the map as one to try. Tasting notes once I’ve pulled a few bags through the V60.
